Life has only gotten more complicated since Sophie exposed a paranormal conspiracy deep within Miami. But between school, a news internship, and her upcoming Quincenera, Soph must now balance a love triangle with Milo and Usnavy -- and help a disgraced celebrity find his late wife's "real killer." Sophie's existence has been... not terrible lately as she splits her days between school (where Soph remains a pariah) and her internship at WMIA 7 (where way too many media tips about paranormal activity in Miami turn out to be way too true). And in her rare free time, Sophie acts in Milo's latest student film. With such a whirlwind life, it's no surprise that everyone forgets Soph's 15th birthday. But Soph's parents intend to make up for this mistake by throwing her a Quincenera. Meanwhile, a disgraced celebrity chef hears how Sophie's been proving her father's innocence and makes a desperate plea -- he wants Sophie to help him find the "real killer" who murdered his ex-wife. With the aid of some Alligatoids and a Mangrove Man, Soph hunts through the past... while someone else hunts her in the present. This whodunit culminates with crop circles, a dance-off, a cat-and-mouse chase through the colorful, yet treacherous, streets of the Wynwood district, where Sophie finds the "real killer" -- and discovers a startling new truth about herself... one which threatens to doom her once and for all.

Welcome to the Forest: The Harvest Party

Por: Katie. Risor | Fecha: 2025

A group of quirky forest creatures embark on heartwarming adventures in this graphic novel series opener featuring original gouache art. Perfect for beginning readers and graphic novel fans, especially those who love the Studio Ghibli films, Kasing Lung's Labubus, and Tove Jansson's Moomin. Includes nonfiction information at the back of the book about the autumnal season. Deep in the heart of the Forest lives a handful of monsters. The Forest is home to many creatures, big and small, like: boisterous Mossman, who is much kinder than he looks; cautious but cheerful Wallace; carefree, kind Grumpkin; and a sweet, mysterious entity named Shadow. The creatures prove that every day is an adventure as new discoveries draw them closer together. In this book, readers will get a glimpse at the woodland creatures' lives and discover three bite-sized stories, perfect for the autumnal harvest season. In Welcome to the Forest: The Harvest Party, Mossman and Wallace decorate pumpkins, Grumpkin meets a new friend, and the creatures celebrate fall with a lively Harvest Party. Cottagecore and Studio Ghibli meet in this graphic novel by debut author and illustrator Katie Risor. Risor's breathtaking gouache mixed-media illustrations shine throughout this graphic novel. It features a Dyslexia-friendly font and is perfect to share with emerging readers, English and Second Language (ESL) learners, and veteran graphic novel enthusiasts alike.
