- Just a few meters from the urban perimeter of ltagüí, where the home public services have a practically total coverage and optimum quality affected, is the village of La María, a territory that historically has been constituted amid marked phenomenoa of population, vulnerable population , illegal settlements, high-risk areas and care in the provision of public services, where the lack of adequate drinking water service, in terms of quality, continuity and coverage, is perhaps one of the most critical.This paper explores the main problems associated with this complex problem and raises some alternative solutions. In addition, resume the main findings of the study that aimed to investigate the tensions associated with the supply of drinking water in the village of La María in the municipality of ltagüí, between its demographic dynamics and the basic dimensions of development, and then formulate strategies and alternatives for the situations identified, so that they serve as input for the design of water and sewage master plans, as well as for territorial planning exercises.
