- One of the destinations in Colombia that stands out for its cultural wealth is San Jacinto, located in the department of Bolívar. This destination is characterized by having sites and traditions that preserve ancestral values and customs to keep alive the historical memory ofthe territory. Despite the above, in San Jacinto there are few efforts made to strengthen cultural tourism, which may become one ofthe reasons for its lag in economic and social development. In this sense, this project aims to design a proposal for the strengthening of cultural tourism in San Jacinto under the endogenous development approach, in order to promote, enhance and preserve tourism resources with this territoiy in mind. In the first instance, a frame ofreference was design to defined the relationship between endogenous development, tourism, culture and how these influence the tourist development of a territoiy. Next, the capacities and context ofthe tourist system in San Jacinto (Bolívar) were analyzed, then the tourist offer of destination was characterized, and finally a strategy was formulated to strengthen cultural tourism in San Jacinto (Bolívar) from the endogenous development approach.
