Traditionally, the economic models that analyze the individual’s health demand have studied it as an individual choice, with a particular characteristic, in these models the demand for health does not depend on the consumption of goods not related to healthcare. However, it has been shown that the presence of certain diseases is strongly related to the individuals and society decision making process, an example is the obesity pandemic. The objective of this work is to stablish a theoretical connection between individuals´ consumption decisions and their health levels. For this purpose, a theoretical model of utility maximization is proposed. Under this model, utility level depends on the consumption of healthy, unhealthy and public goods. In this way, the level of health is a consequence of utility maximization process.
