Asterix Omnibus Vol #4
In "Asterix the Legionary," one of the three classic Asterix graphic novels collected here, Asterix and Obelix do as the Romans do and join the Roman Legion in hopes to get closer to Obelix's big crush in the process. Instead, the troops are sent far from Gaul to North Africa. Then, in "Asterix and the Chieftain's Shield" with the village chief away, Caesar and his men come to play--and get their hands on a priceless Gaul shield! Asterix must foil their search and protect his village. Then Asterix heads to Greece to participate in the Olympic games. But how do the Gauls register themselves? As Romans? And is their powerful potion an ancient form of performance enhancers? It's an international bout for the ages and just when you think you know what to expect in Asterix, the creators Goscinny and Uderzo throw things at you that you never could've imagined.

Wildcat Anarchist Comics
Wildcat Anarchist Comics collects the drawings of Donald Rooum, mostly (but by no means entirely) from the long-running "Wildcat" cartoon series that has been published in Freedom newspaper since 1980. Rooum does not just purvey jokes but makes the drawings comical in themselves, "getting the humour in the line," provoking laughter even in those who do not read the captions or speech balloons. The chief characters in the strip are the Revolting Pussycat, a short-fused anarchist who is furious and shouty; and the Free-Range Egghead, an intellectual who would like anarchism to be respectable but sometimes appears foolish. Governments, bosses, and authoritarians are presented as buffoons, and quite often so are anarchists. This thoughtful and delightful collection includes strips from The Skeptic and many more, all beautifully colored for the first time by Jayne Clementson. The book also includes a lively autobiographical introduction that discusses Rooum's role in the 1963 "Challenor case," in which a corrupt police officer planted a weapon on Rooum at a demonstration, ultimately resulting in Rooum's acquittal.

Birtle and the (Very) Unwelcome Garry
Tootie and Teeny are going on a trip to the beach! It's going to be a Birtle BFF Beach Bonanza. But when they get to the beach, a gull named Garry interrupts their plans. Teeny is excited to meet another bird. Tootie is . . . not. Will these BFFs stay BFFs, or is this BFF Beach Bonanza doomed? This adorable graphic novel is about making new friends, dealing with jealousy, and being open-minded. It features a Dyslexia-friendly font. "Not only are Tootie and Teeny some of the sweetest characters ever, but their friendship should serve as a blueprint for all friendships. With my whole heart, I wish for all of us to have a friend like these two, who will love, respect, and accept us for everything that we are, and all that we wish to be, flying turtle or otherwise. This whole book feels like a hug, a reassuring warm blanket of love that reminds us of the importance and of the magic that happens when our hearts and minds are open, and of the beautiful fact that we are all more alike than we are different." - Leila Boukarim, author of Zips and Eeloo Make Hummus

Double Trouble in Walla Walla
It was an ordinary Monday morning in Walla Walla--until Lulu walked up to her English teacher's desk. "Mrs. Bell, I feel like a nit-wit. My homework is all higgledy-piggledy. Last night it was in tip-top shape, but not it's a big mish-mash." With those few words, things become not so ordinary after all, for it seems that Lulu has opened up a super-duper, helter-skelter WORD WARP. Luckily for Lulu and the rest of the English-speaking world, the school nurse has an idea about how to handle this hodge-podge of topsy-turvy chit-chat. Will it work? Zig-zag through the jibber-jabber and the yakety-yak to find out!
