Waiting For The Great Pumpkin

Por: Charles M. Schulz | Fecha: 2023

Linus and his wait for the Great Pumpkin have been a pop culture touchstone for nearly 50 years thanks to the animated television special ("I got a rock"), and it all started in the classic Peanuts strips (1959-1962) collected in this affordable, fun-sized gift book. Linus's proselytizing that on Halloween, the Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch and travels the world bringing presents to good little girls and boys are derided by his sister Lucy, laughed at by Charlie Brown, met with skepticism by baby Sally, and even causes "denominational squabbling" over who's better, the Great Pumpkin or Santa Claus. Year after year, Linus faces his persecution and inevitable disappointment with either blind faith or Quixotic perseverance. Charles M. Schulz's homage to the power of idealism and belief makes these some of the most beloved comic strips of all time.

Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Color Sundays: "Call of the Wild" (Vol 1)

Por: Floyd. Gottfredson | Fecha: 2022

We're jumping from black and white to classic color--as Floyd Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse series makes its 1932-35 Sunday strip debut! Bright hues highlight our hero as he enjoys four years' worth of wild weekend epics... taking him from Uncle Mortimer's Wild West ranch to the icy peak of frigid Mount Fishflake! And in this volume, Mickey is joined by a famous co-star: Donald Duck! Floyd Gottfredson, artist of the Sunday Mickey Mouse from 1932-38, created the most famous Mickey tales ever told in print. These Sunday specials--many never before reprinted--also feature the work of later Donald Duck master Al Taliaferro. Collectively, they form a collection that fans have been seeking for a lifetime! Highlights include "Mickey's Nephews," introducing Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, and "Dr. Oofgay's Secret Serum," which turns Horace Horsecollar into a brainwashed wild mustang! Classic gag stories round out the book, offering manic Mouse mischief at a fever pitch. Restored from Disney's art sources and enhanced with a meticulous recreation of the strips' original color, Call of the Wild also brings you more than 30 pages of chromatic supplementary features! You'll enjoy rare behind-the-scenes art, vintage publicity material, and fascinating commentary by a prismatic pack of Disney scholars. NOTE: Mickey Mouse Color Sundays: Call of the Wild contains cartoon violence and historically dated content presented in context.

Batter Up, Charlie Brown!

Por: Charles M. Schulz | Fecha: 2023

Charlie Brown may not be the best pitcher, batter, or team manager, but his love for the game is boundless, no matter how many home runs he gives up, how many games he loses, how many errors his team makes, or how many times the game is rained out. This delightful collection of newspaper comic strips --Batter Up, Charlie Brown! -- features three complete baseball stories starring good ol' Charlie Brown and his frustrating (and frustrated) teammates Lucy, Linus, Pigpen, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang.

Memories of a Crappy Pooch Memories of a Crappy Pooch

Por: Marta Alonso. Berná | Fecha: 2022

Maria Fuencisla, a long-term resident in a central Madrid neighborhood, is hit hard when her pet dies in a tragic accident. Her three best friends, Anastasia, Dori and Ricarda, come up with various schemes to try to comfort her, but it's almost impossible, because the deceased dog was the focus of the old lady's entire universe. These pages are full of tragicomic memories showing us how Maria Fuencisla and her small dog formed such a solid -- if somewhat unorthodox -- team. Together, they overcome the difficulties of being a senior citizen and a puppy in this hyper-modern age. The puppy was her dearest one, the son that she never had, and as she thinks back on their adventures together, she tries to move past this latest tragedy and move on with her life... but the fates have more in store for her.

Peanuts Every Sunday 1956 1960

Por: Charles M. Schulz | Fecha: 2022

Since their original publication, Peanuts Sundays have almost always been collected and reprinted in black and white. But many who read Peanuts in their original Sunday papers remain fond of the striking coloring, which makes for a surprisingly different reading experience. These late 1950s strips comprise the first golden age of Peanuts Sundays in one gorgeous, full-color coffee table book. Linus, Charlie Brown, Pig-Pen, Shermy, Violet, Sally, Patty, and Schroeder are all present, but the rising star is undoubtedly Snoopy. Peanuts Every Sunday: 1956-1960 has been scrupulously re-colored to match the original syndicate coloring--allowing readers once again to plunge back into Charles Schulz's marvelous world.
