Este estadio fue el primer campo deportivo de la ciudad y estaba ubicado en los predios de la Finca La Merced que los Jesuitas adquirieron en 1908. Esta finca comprendía un extensísimo terreno que hoy (2017) está ocupado por el Colegio San Bartolomé La Merced, y algunas casas del barrio La Merced.
