Light Carries On
When Leon's camera unexpectedly breaks, he is forced to borrow a used one from his mom's antique store. As he snaps the first picture, the ghost of the camera's former owner is released and the two are inexplicably linked. After taking Leon's body for an accidental joy ride, the ghost introduces himself as Cody, a queer punk rocker who died decades ago. Of course, he doesn't remember how he wound up dead but the two decide investigating might be the only way to end the haunting. Leon has been reeling from a recent break-up with his boyfriend, recovering from his time in the military, and trying to become a photographer who can afford to take pictures of something more than high school proms and weddings. So being the only one able to see and talk to a ghost that died before cellphones, Wikipedia, or iTunes seems like a great way to fill his ample free time. The two get closer as they travel around Chicago showing each other the landmarks of their pasts and trying to unearth the secrets around Cody's mysterious death. They discover they have much more in common than expected as they explore the complexities of life, love, and afterdeath, taking breaks to jam out to tunes, hang out in planetariums, and slurp down tasty frozen beverages. Cartoonist Ray Nadine (Station Six, Raise Hell, Messenger) has created an unmissable graphic novel that balances out themes of trauma, grief, and toxic relationships with radical empathy, queer joy, and healing.

Monstermind: Dealing With Anxiety & Self Doubt #1
Alfonso Casas's MonsterMind is a very personal account of the inner monsters that live inside his head. But who doesn't have a monster inside them? Who has never heard that voice inside their head undermining everything they do? You're not good enough...You just got really lucky...There are people far better and more qualified than you... In a very honest exercise, Alfonso Casas identifies and introduces his own monsters to his readers: Mr. Past Traumas, Mr. Fear, Mr. Social Anxiety, Mr. Impostor Syndrome, Mr. Sadness, Mr. Doubt...the pessimistic, the insecure, the self-demanding, the monster that keeps you from sleeping while you think of what you could have said back in that conversation two years ago, or that keeps you looking over the punctuation of every text message to figure out the tone lurking beneath the surface. All those monsters make up the bestiary of contemporary society. But the anxiety generation is expert in more things: in looking inside themselves and their lives, and--why not?--in laughing at their own neuroses as best they can. In the end, if the monsters won't leave us, we might as well get to know them and laugh at them! Anxiety is another pandemic, but the monsters dwelling inside us are funny, too (especially as drawn by Alfonso Casas). BONUS: Includes a discussion guide to help readers further discuss anxiety and find ways to deal with it.

Miss Fury Vol 2: Walk Through The Valley
Marla Drake, the untamable costumed adventurer known as Miss Fury, fought Nazis with wild abandon not just during World War II, but - due to a scientific mishap - throughout time, as well. Now trapped in the 1943 of a parallel universe, she comes face-to-face with her mirror double, a hedonistic murderess whose soul was never saved by the love of a good man. Realizing what her life could be like now that she has lost her own beloved Matthew Chandler, she surrenders to the slimy promises of Schauburger, a rogue (and dead) Nazi agent whose ghost can alter the timestream and set things right. The cost? Killing the alternate Marla Drake, the Pharaoh of Time, the Mafia superhero The Mob, a US Naval Intelligence nuclear physicist... and the list goes on. No matter how hard she tries, people just seem to want Miss Fury to murder for them. How many must die so that she can become a good person again?
