Human Stock Exchange V3

Por: Xavier. Dorison | Fecha: 2023

After an initial period of euphoria at his wild success on the Human Stock Exchange, Felix discovers the exorbitant price of his new life and the Faustian pact he has made. Constantly monitored by the rate watch on his wrist, bound by the orders of his shareholders, Felix must do everything in his power to increase the price of his shares. Until the day his board of directors orders him to make his partner, Rachel, have an abortion. Felix negotiates an extension in an attempt to avoid committing this irrevocable act. However, upon discovering that Felix asked merely to delay the request rather than refusing it outright, Rachel leaves him. Felix finally sees the monster he has become. But it's too late...

Last of the Atlases V9

Por: Fabien. Vehlmann | Fecha: 2023

Birds wasting away in a national park, refusing to migrate. Identical geometric markings on the wings of completely different insect species. A pillar of dust in the desert. A small-time hood travels to India's shipbreaking yards in search of a giant nuclear-powered construction robot. A big-time crime boss makes a killing off the Algerian Revolution, in a world where it happened fifteen years later than in our own. "A good story," insists reporter Francoise Halfort, visited abruptly by a post-menopausal pregnancy, "is one that draws unexpected connections between seemingly unconnected events." Four star creators join talents on a vast canvas that takes in the entire French 20th century.

Keepers of Lost Time

Por: Miroslav. Marić | Fecha: 2023

Keepers of Lost Time is a Serbian science-fiction comics trilogy wrriten by Miroslav Maric and drawn by Vujadin Radovanovic. It is rightfully considered to be a significant work in the history of Serbian fantasy and comics. The first episode was published in 1990, the second in 2000, but it wasn't until 2012 that the trilogy finally saw its highly anticipated conclusion, published by Darkwood. This future-fantasy comic depicts two cultures - one of high technology, the other - tribal, in moments of their internal crises. They exist synchronously and interdependently, yet are in conflict due to their vastly different perceptions of the world and spiritual values.

Ofelia: A Love and Rockets Book

Por: Gilbert. Hernandez | Fecha: 2022

The eleventh volume of The Complete Love and Rockets Library (the fifth chronologically in Gilbert Hernandez's Palomar main storyline) collects stories from 2000-2005. In Ofelia, the sisters, the kids, and the cousins are all settled comfortably in California after leaving Palomar in Luba and Her Family. Luba's and her cousin Ofelia's relationship has always been fraught, but when Ofelia threatens to write a book about Luba, past memories, secrets, resentments, and pain resurface. Meanwhile, Luba's children -- genius Socorro, recently out-and-proud Doralis, and prickly Maricela -- show that a talent for trouble may be hereditary. Luba's sisters, Fritz and Petra, swap lovers (as usual), but ... are Fritz and family friend Pipo sittin' in a tree? These vividly drawn characters are charged with Hernandez's trademark complexity; they live, love, age, fight-- and die--in this sweeping, multi-generational saga.

Human Diastrophism: A Love and Rockets Book

Por: Gilbert. Hernandez | Fecha: 2022

Human Diastrophism is the fourth volume in The Complete Love and Rockets Library, and the second that collects writer-artist Gilbert Hernandez's main Palomar storyline, magical-realist tales of a small Central American town. It begins with the landmark "Human Diastrophism." In it, a serial killer stalks Palomar -- but the murders only exacerbate the cracks in the idyllic Central American town that the outside world made when it began to intrude. "Diastrophism'' concludes with the death of one of its most beloved characters. As a postscript -- one of the most hauntingly magical moments of the entire series -- a rain of ashes drifts down upon Palomar. Also included are all the post-"Diastrophism'' stories, in which Luba's past (as seen in the epic Poison River) comes back to haunt her, and Hernandez sows the seeds for the "Palomar diaspora" that ends this dense, enthralling book. In addition to seeing Hernandez push the comics medium into greater artistic and narrative heights (along with contemporaries such as Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes), readers will see characters change as they age in "real-time" in stories that span generations and centuries. Created between 1989-1995, these stories first appeared in the long-running (and ongoing) Love and Rockets comics series, also featuring work by Gilbert's brothers, Jaime and Mario. L&R has been called "the greatest American comic book series of all time" by Rolling Stone and "a great, sprawling American novel" by GQ. It broke ground with its craft and the casual intersectionality of its huge and diverse casts of nuanced characters (many of whom are LGBQTIA+) who live and have relationships in often-naturalistic settings and situations.

Por: Mark. Bellido | Fecha: 2023

Jesus Fernandez, aka El Pocero (the digger), used to be the richest man in Spain. At the top of his prosperity, he starts building a city that will be named after him. Until he sees his megalomaniac project rushed by the real estate crisis in 2008. Completely bankrupt, he decides to end his life. In a dramatic fit he writes a farewell letter, lights some candles, ties newspaper clippings about his greatest accomplishments around his chest and hangs himself. But fate seems to have other plans for him. At that exact same moment two police officers and a bailiff appear on his doorstep. They cut the noose around his neck... and throw him out of his house. He roams around desperately until he ends up in a bar in the next village. That's where he first hears about the mythical village of Marinaleda, in the heart of Andalusia. A utopian place where villagers have turned their backs on capitalism and the crisis doesn't seem to have struck. Since he's got nothing left to lose, Jesus decides to go try his luck in Marinaleda.
