Vista de la fachada principal de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen. La Iglesia del Carmen es un templo de estilo gótico, ubicado entre las calle 8 (octava) y 9 (novena) y entre las carreras 5 (quinta) y 6 (sexta), en el barrio La Candelaria. Fue diseñado por el ingeniero salesiano Giovanni Buscaglione. La construcción duró cerca de diez años. La obra fue dirigida por Buscaglione, quien contó con la colaboración de los Salesianos, Roberto Cárdenas y Constantino de Castro. Fue inaugurado el 8 de mayo de 1938. El Santuario y Claustro Nacional de Nuestra Señora del Carmen fueron declarados Bienes de Interés Cultural del ámbito Nacional, mediante Decreto 804 del 30 de abril de 1993.

Vista de la fachada principal y de la cúpula de la Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús-Voto Nacional, ubicada en la Plaza de Los Mártires. Esta iglesia fue construida en la primera década del siglo XX, entre 1902 y 1916, en honor al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, advocación a la cual el país se consagró, en medio de la Guerra de los mil días. Fue diseñada por Julián Lombana. En 1964 fue elevada a Basílica menor. Fue declarada Bien de interés cultural, mediante Resolución 1402 del 16 de junio de 2012.

La Iglesia del Carmen es un templo de estilo gótico, ubicado entre las calle 8 (octava) y 9 (novena) y entre las carreras 5 (quinta) y 6 (sexta), en el barrio La Candelaria. Fue diseñado por el ingeniero salesiano Giovanni Buscaglione. La construcción duró cerca de diez años. La obra fue dirigida por Buscaglione, quien contó con la colaboración de los Salesianos, Roberto Cárdenas y Constantino de Castro. Fue inaugurado el 8 de mayo de 1938. El Santuario y Claustro Nacional de Nuestra Señora del Carmen fueron declarados Bienes de Interés Cultural del ámbito Nacional, mediante Decreto 804 del 30 de abril de 1993. En el retablo del altar mayor se encuentra una imagen de la Virgen del Carmen. Se trata de una escultura en madera policromada, de autor anónimo, del siglo XVIII. Esta imagen era venerada en la antigua Iglesia del Carmen (Fajardo de Rueda et al., 2005, p. 102). Al parecer, en la década del cuarenta, la imagen escultórica fue reemplazada por la pintura de la virgen del Carmen que, actualmente (2017), se encuentra en el retablo.
