Love Me or Go to Hell

Por: Donna. Barstow | Fecha: 2013

Love Me or Go to Hell is a sexy, sophisticated collection of cartoons on love, romance, and the inevitable trip (and sometimes pratfalls) that every woman yearns to go on.Love me or leave me. Love me or go to hell! Love makes the world go 'round. Love is what all women think about, much like sex for men. Love Me or Go to Hell delivers an edgy, delicious sense of humor as only a woman can bring it. The brainchild of author Donna Barstow introduces cartoons written and illustrated by women, for women. It's a compilation of cartoons from a fabulous group of women-including Liza Donnelly, Anne Gibbons, Stephanie Piro, and Lynn Williams. Savage Chickens: Zombies According to Savage Chickens

Por: Doug. Savage | Fecha: 2013

If the Internet has taught us anything, it's that the zombie apocalypse is looming, and it's coming soon. In order to protect ourselves from the zombies' grumbling stomachs, it makes sense to prepare by studying a handbook to the nethermost depths of the zombie's psyche. Zombies According to Savage Chickens is not that guide; however, this e-book original collection of comics certainly makes for a more amusing read, which, after all, is what truly matters. Doug Savage, the cartoonist who has maintained the hilarious Savage Chickens web comic blog since 2005 by uploading sticky notes illustrated with the antics of his clever cast of characters, has imagined another memorable type of Savage Chicken: the Zombie Chickens. Zombies have one thing on their minds: BRAINS. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they run amuck all day looking for the next lucky person in the land-of-the-living to provide lunch. How might a zombie interact at an art auction, wedding, or job interview? What is their ideal Valentine's Day gift, and how would a zombie Shakespeare have taken his plays to the Globe? These are exactly the questions--the totally relevant questions--about the imminent zombie takeover that only Mr. Savage has the guts (and the brains) to tackle. After all, why study up on the zombie apocalypse when you can laugh at the expense of the undead instead?

Pickles: Still Pickled After All These Years

Por: Brian. Crane | Fecha: 2013

This is the second fan letter I have written in my whole life. The other one was to Hopalong Cassidy, when I had a great crush on him at about six years old. But I did want to let you know how very much both my husband and I have enjoyed Pickles from the very first strip. Would you please consider putting a collection together in book form?" --Lois F. in Nevada As its loyal fans will gladly tell you, Pickles has been a zinger-filled, laugh-out-loud gem since its debut in 1990. Since then, it has steadily climbed in popularity, and today appears in over 400 newspapers worldwide. Still Pickled After All These Years collects strips from this sweet intergenerational comic that alternates point of view between an older married couple, a 30-something married couple, and their son. The strip centers on Earl and Opal Pickles, who have been married over 50 years but inject plenty of spunk and insight into everything they do. Whether they're taking a wry but sympathetic glance at their divorced daughter, Sylvia, laughing at their faithful but feckless canine, Roscoe, marveling at their dictatorial feline, Muffin, or just commenting on the little things in life, Earl and Opal's good-natured wit and dry humor is brilliantly on target. Pickles is about growing old and keeping your sense of humor but never forgetting what it's like to be a child. The strip's inaugural AMP collection, Still Pickled After All These Years, encapsulates the importance of staying close to those who bring you the most joy and reminds everyone about the incalculable value of the unconditional love of pets, family, and friends.

Specializing in humor in everyday situations, John McPherson lampoons the worlds of parenting, marriage, school, health care, work, and leisure in ways that get readers to laugh at themselves.

Big Nate: What's a Little Noogie Between Friends?

Por: Lincoln. Peirce | Fecha: 2017

Nate Wright's a winner--in his own mind, anyway. So when things go wrong, he's at a loss to explain why. How does his soccer team manage to lose to a school with a sixty-game winless streak? What's he doing at the movies on a Friday night . . . with GINA? And why, oh why is one of his classmates (hint: she's Nate's dream girl) suddenly moving 3,000 miles away? It's all enough to make a sixth-grade superstar feel . . . well, not so super. But you can't keep a good man down, and Nate's still got pals like Teddy, Francis, and Chad to cheer him up. Sure, their methods aren't always warm and fuzzy, but Nate doesn't mind. After all, what's a little noogie between friends?

Remembering Farley: A Tribute to the Life of Our Favorite Cartoon Dog

Por: Lynn. Johnston | Fecha: 2014

It was a bleak day when the Patterson's faithful 14-year-old sheep dog, Farley, died while saving young April from a raging river. Across the country, fans who read For Better or For Worse in some 1,600 daily newspapers reacted with surprise and grief. Since 1979, Johnston has created an affectionate family whose members face real problems with grace and humor. Readers have accompanied Elly and John Patterson through the years, watching them raise their children, Michael, Elizabeth, and April; commiserating when they dealt with aging parents; wondering how they'd handle a friend's homosexuality. In Remembering Farley, Lynn Johnston shares her favorite selections from the heroic sheep dog's life. This retrospective includes strips from Farley's puppy days to his dying day, scenes that capture the essence of raising and loving a pet. Remembering Farley also contains some new illustrations and quotes from some of the letters sent by Farley's many fans. Remembering Farley is a tender tribute to a dog that many of us felt was our own devoted friend.

Close to Home: McPherson on Sports

Por: John. McPherson | Fecha: 2013

Sports is one of cartoonist John McPherson's favorite topics for lampooning. The frustration inherent in almost any sport makes for a perfect comic target. What's funnier than a flummoxed fisherman, a goaded golfer, a bamboozled batter, or a fumbling football player? Find out in this collection of John's favorites. Close to Home debuted in 50 newspapers in 1992 after McPherson left his engineering job to become a full-time cartoonist, and today the comic strip runs in nearly 700 newspapers worldwide. His characters are regularly confronted with everyday dilemmas and their responses are always cleverly unpredictable. The situations are somehow both outlandish yet relatable, and anyone is sure to burst out in laughter at this original e-book collection of all of Close to Home's boldest and best comical takes on sports.
