El trabajo de investigación presentado realiza un acercamiento a la novela gráfica Sin City, de Frank Miller, a través de un análisis socio-crítico, develando una realidad contextual cotidiana pero enmarcada en el concepto del héroe contemporáneo. Miller transforma los esquemas tradicionales de la historieta y replantea el ejercicio narrativo y gráfico del género dentro del mundo de la literatura, donde se potencializa la fuerza de la novela a partir de la mezcla entre el arte de la imagen y el arte de la escritura. El análisis del texto, a la luz del paradigma en mención, brinda elementos para reconocer discursos de oposición, conciencia y denuncia social, a través de las visiones de mundo de los personajes. Asimismo se abordan diferentes conceptos para contemplar la obra de Miller: la figura del héroe, la ciudad del pecado, los conceptos de valor, conflicto, relaciones de poder, política y subversión, entre otros, centrando la principal mirada en el héroe degradado o antihéroe, quien en la novela trabajada no es más que un individuo terrenal, lóbrego, sombrío y vil que trasgrede todas las normas y entra en conflicto consigo mismo y con su entorno, en este caso la ciudad del pecado, con sus valores, con los sistemas.
