Hellboy: The Complete Short Stories Volume 1

Por: Duncan. Fegredo | Fecha: 2019

The ultimate introduction to this supernatural hero features 16 standalone stories with Mignola's greatest collaborators--stories that can be read in any order. This 368-page volume covers Hellboy's adventures from 1947 to 1961, reprinting stories from The Chained Coffin, The Right Hand of Doom, The Bride of Hell, The Crooked Man, The Troll Witch, and Hellboy's childhood adventure, The Midnight Circus, drawn by Duncan Fegredo, artist of The Wild Hunt, the basis for Neil Marshall's film Hellboy: The Rise of the Blood Queen. In 1994 Mike Mignola released the first Hellboy series, Seed of Destruction, as Hellboy faced his supposed destiny as Beast of the Apocalypse. Before that, he'd spent fifty years fighting monsters as a somewhat carefree member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. The Complete Short Stories Volumes 1 & 2present those early adventures. "The Crooked Man" and "Double Feature of Evil," both of which earned Mignola and his legendary collaborator Richard Corben Eisner Awards, are collected with the complete "Hellboy in Mexico" saga, featuring collaborations with Corben, Mick McMahon, Gabriel Ba, and Fabio Moon, as well as one of Mignola's early masterpiece, "The Corpse." The two volumes of The Complete Short Stories together with the four volume Hellboy Omnibus series collect all of Mignola's award-winning Hellboy stories in chronological order for a definitive reading experience.

The Marquis Volume 1: Inferno

Por: Guy. Davis | Fecha: 2016

In eighteenth-century Venisalle, faith governs life and death, and the guilty hide their shame behind masks, showing their faces only in the secret rites of the confessional. It is to this stronghold of the Inquisition that the souls of Hell have escaped to possess the living, spreading sin, murder, and chaos. Amid the carnage, one man is blessed with the clarity to recognize the demons that prey on his countrymen -- and the means to return them to the fires of Hell. But as the stakes rise, the lines separating good and evil begin to blur, and the Marquis -- the dark avenger whom even demons fear to cross -- finds himself torn between the blind faith that has defined his life and the bitter truths exposed under his new sight.

The Whispering Dark

Por: Tomas. Aira | Fecha: 2019

At war with Russia, United States Special Forces confront a supernatural horror in this military thriller from a writer of the video games Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront II. Illustrated by the artist of Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath and Garth Ennis' War Stories, this suspenseful graphic novel combines the cosmic terror of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness with the unflinching gaze of Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now, bringing readers on a horrifying descent into the heart of darkness. Co-Pilot Hannah Vance believed her faith in God could survive anything, including combat. But when her helicopter is shot down behind enemy lines while lifting out a squad of Army Rangers, she finds her morality, and her sanity, tested to its limits and beyond. Hunted by the Russians and surviving on little more than go-pills and fear, Hannah's desperate search for a way out of enemy territory will lead her to fight and to kill on an ever more savage battlefield. On the horizon, an evil waits for her--and freedom, of a sort. This is a tense and terrifying journey through the lies laid bare by modern warfare, and the dark truths that lurk beneath them.

The Ring of Nibelung

Por: P. Craig. Russel | Fecha: 2016

The Eisner Award-winning series, finally collected in one volume, presents one of the grandest stories of Western civilization, now one of the most explosive epics in the history of comics. Giants plot against gods, who in turn tear human lovers apart, while the lives of great warriors are ruined, and murder after murder is committed in the name of love and gold. It's the epic as it was meant to be read. This new high point in Russell's distinguished twenty-five year career as a true artist's artist includes behind-the-scenes production art, notes on the adaptation by the artist, and high res scans of the original art. "P. Craig Russell's beautiful telling of The Ring Cycle manages both to be the most faithful and inspiring reworking of the opera into comics form, and the ultimate high-fantasy saga."-Neil Gaiman
