Avatar: The High Ground Library Edition

Por: Sherri L.. Smith | Fecha: 2023

A deluxe collection of the full graphic novel adaptation of one of James Cameron's original Avatar screenplay story ideas and a direct prequel to the film Avatar: The Way of Water! It has been over a decade since the humans were forced to leave Pandora--but now they're returning--with an armada of heavily-armed starships! After years of peace, Jake Sully has settled down with Neytiri and raised a family, so for him, the stakes are even higher than when he first went to war against the corporate might of the RDA. During the development process of creating the four Avatar sequels, a lot of new ideas and stories were created and discussed. One such EPIC original story idea that didn't make it into the sequels was James Cameron's original story--"The High Ground." This beautiful library edition collects volumes 1-3 of the graphic novel series written by award-winning author Sherri L. Smith (The Toymaker's Apprentice, Orleans), and illustrated by artists Guilherme Balbi, Diego Galindo, Agustin Padilla, and Miguel Angel Ruiz!

Yellow Cab

Por: Benoît. Cohen | Fecha: 2023

After twenty years working on film and series shoots, Benoit Cohen is drained. His enthusiasm gone, a desire to stop writing and put down the camera takes over. In the city for a year, he still wonders about how best to absorb the rich diversity of the cosmopolitan metropolis, settling on a simple idea: he will become a taxi driver. Behind the iconic Yellow Cab, behind the fantasy of freedom and independence, behind the faces of his thousands of passengers, Benoit discovers a world to which he is a stranger. He dives into his new life with the idea of turning it into a screenplay for a future film, but the material he collects from this social experiment marks him deeply, leading down unsuspected paths: First, the administrative maze that leads to the taxi driver's license. Then the world behind the scenes. And finally, the prejudices that surround the profession and lead customers, cops, and the entire city to look at it--quite randomly--either with indifference, kindness, or aggression. The project transforms into an autobiographical novel interspersed with reflections on the creative process, and with the help of Chaboute, it is now a sensitive, deeply human graphic novel with breathtaking illustrations that pay vibrant tribute to New York City.

Count Crowley Volume 1: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter

Por: David. Dastmalchian | Fecha: 2020

Lock your doors and gather close . . . if you dare! Once a rising TV journalist, Jerri Bartman has returned to her small Midwest hometown station. Demoted to hosting the nightly Creature Feature, Jerri's professional humiliation is eclipsed by the discovery that her new job comes with a secret, supernatural duty. Her missing predecessor, Count Crowley, was one of the last "Appointed" hunters of monsters. Yes. Monsters. They're real and they're hell bent on controlling the news and information consumed by humans. Everything we've ever been taught about monsters is a lie and Jerri's only possible advisor is a senile male chauvinist. It's 1983 and the outlook for humanity is getting . . . gnarly and their only hope is an alcoholic, acerbic horror host from Missouri. David Dastmalchian's authorial comics debut with artist Lukas Ketner--this terrifying trade collects issues #1-#4 of the Dark Horse Comics series Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter!
