Dekko Comics #6

Por: Dekko. Team | Fecha: 2020

Issue six begins with Cob the Impossible blob showing us how to be the masters of our own decisions with a comic about peer pressure. Dan's antibodies and bacteria are multiplying and dividing in Dan's body battles, and Tracey Time finds herself doing a time-travelling world tour, visiting all seven continents at different times throughout history thanks to that glitchy phone of hers! Detective Duke investigates the stunning scene at Agnus McAvery's mansion and seeks some stimulating vocabulary to ascertain the facts. Timbot and Crowball shed some light on...well, "light" in Count Clockface's hideout. Meanwhile, Clockwork Clive discovers a multitude of chemical changes in his remarkable daily life. Ricky Rhino gets into more bother joining his sales pitches using conjunctions, and Outlawra gets some messy and vengeful help with ratio and proportion. Basil and Ernie deliberate the use of suffixes in their usual "unique" way while Timbot and Crowball empower the residents of Robo City with strategies to overcome Lord Hackworth's nasty cyber bullying. In "Picture-It" we decipher some tricky fractions with the help of a big load of pictures, and Piwi the Posh Kiwi tries to fix his heating problems by learning about thermal conductors and insulators. Issue six also has some posters about vocabulary, peer pressure, world continents.

Dekko Comics #1

Por: Dekko. Team | Fecha: 2020

Dekko Comics are the wackiest funniest short comic stories you've ever read, with a full cast of crazy comic characters. The stories range from adventurous to ridiculous, but what's particularly special about Dekko is that the stories are actually educational too. They cover school subjects from maths to literacy, and do so by being entertaining first and educational second. These stories are ideal for anyone looking for learning in a fun way, and especially helpful for those who struggle with conventional reading: like dyslexic readers. Reading Dekko will turn your learning into a Saturday activity without you even realizing it. In Issue One Basil and Ernie demonstrate how to recognise and use historical sources, while Piwi the Posh Kiwi's weeklong holiday in France teaches us the days of the week in French. Timbot and Crowball fight off the Timetron robots with their knowledge of time while Wilma the witch with Wurton the wizard use their magic spells to help us practice the rules of spelling. Outlawra's granny gives an (uninvited) first-hand account about the Homefront during World War II - while Outlawra demonstrates her own version of the Blitz! In Dan's body battles he learns about sinuses (yuck! mucus!) while Doctopus and Nurse Skuttlefish work to diagnose a German blowfish. Beechboy Barkley's long legs give us a lesson in measuring and Basil and Ernie teach some fractions, decimals, and percentages while they (try to) share a pizza. Literacy expert Cob the Impossible Blob shows us the parts of speech while the Knight and the Dragon demonstrate figures of speech in "Tales of Words" and Sprocket learns about FORCE - the hard way. Issue one also contains posters about spelling rule exceptions, figures of speech and reading time.

I'm a Dumbo Octopus!

Por: Anne. Lambelet | Fecha: 2025

Meet Grimpy! He's a dumbo octopus, and he's taking us on a tour of the whole cephalopod class--underwater creatures such as cuttlefish, nautiluses, octopuses, and squids. Grimpy knows all about what makes these many-armed marvels so special, like how the coconut octopus uses tools or the cuttlefish talks with color! It seems like every creature has a special ability--except him. When Grimpy gets stuck on everything a dumbo octopus can't do, the other cephalopods show him why it's great to be a dumbo.

Wild at Heart

Por: Anna. Bron | Fecha: 2024

Mardy and Olaus Murie fell in love in--and with--Alaska. Then set out on an adventure across the Arctic for Olaus's work as a biologist, encountering the beauty and danger of the wilds along the way. They learned from Indigenous communities to appreciate the interconnectedness of all living creatures and understood that the way humans were moving in on wild land was threatening the natural world. So they shifted the focus of their work to conservation, fighting to protect the land and animals--and lobbying for the creation of what finally became the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, nine thousand square miles of protected land! Mardy and Olaus's story of passion and hard work will inspire all readers to fan their spark of purpose into flame. Backmatter includes additional information on Mardy and Olaus, their legacy, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and more.
