Whistleblowers: Four Who Fought to Expose the Holocaust to America

Por: Dean. Motter | Fecha: 2024

A compelling nonfiction graphic novel, Whistleblowers is the true story of four courageous individuals who risked their careers--or their lives--to confront the unfolding Holocaust. Who were the whistleblowers? o Alan Cranston--a young journalist and future U.S. senator who exposed the truth of Hitler's plans. o Henry Morgenthau, Jr.--a member of Franklin D. Roosevelt's cabinet who confronted the President over the plight of Jewish refugees fleeing Hitler o Jan Karski--an eyewitness to Nazi atrocities who met with American and British officials to alert them about the death camps. o Josiah E. DuBois Jr.--an American civil servant who blew the whistle on colleagues inside the Roosevelt administration who were blocking the rescue of refugees. Acclaimed author Dr. Rafael Medoff, director of the David Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, and award-winning comics creator Dean Motter bring to life these tales of moral courage in the face of genocide.

Vann Nath: Painting the Khmer Rouge

Por: Matteo. Mastragostino | Fecha: 2022

The true story of the Cambodian painter Vann Nath, who used his art to fight against barbarism and tyranny. 1 VOLUME RELEASED - INDEPENDENT STORIES. In 1978, a young painter named Vann Nath was arrested by the Khmer Rouge, the violent and totalitarian Communist Party of Kampuchea that ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. Imprisoned in the infamous Tuol Sleng prison, better known as S-21, painting became synonymous with survival for him. Ordered, like many Cambodian artists and craftsmen, to put his talent to use to glorify his captors, upon his release he continued painting--this time, to remember and pay tribute to the victims of Pol Pot's regime. A story as fascinating as it is powerful.

We Survived the Holocaust: The Bluma and Felix Goldberg Story

Por: Frank W.. Baker | Fecha: 2024

During Adolf Hitler's rule over Germany, there were over 40,000 Nazi concentration, labor, and death camps built with the intent of erasing an entire population of Jews, Sinti, and Roma, as well as "other examples of impure races." Bluma Tishgarten and Felix Goldberg were both young Polish Jews caught up in the Holocaust, Hitler's rise to power, the rise of antisemitism, and more. Yet they survived. Bluma and Felix's miraculous story of survival, combined with the rise of nationalism and fascism, leading to the extermination of millions of human beings, is also a cautionary tale--a dangerous history that, if we do not heed the warning signs, could very well be repeated.
