La llegada de la Guardia Civil a Antequera a principios del año 1845 supuso para toda la comarca, sacarla del ostracismo económico en la que se hallaba inmersa por el bandidaje que asolaba aquellas tierras y que había instalado su ley a través de robos, extorsiones, asesinatos, secuestros y todo un elenco de delitos, a cuál de ellos más grave, hasta tal punto que las personas hacían testamento cuando iniciaban viaje, ya que no tenían la certeza de volver con vida. Esta situación la Guardia Civil la recondujo en apenas dos años, dando seguridad y tranquilidad a toda la comarca y, por extensión, a toda la provincia de Málaga.
