The communications services market is undergoing a transition as the growing interconnection of providers is diminishing the importance of coverage as a differentiator, and shifting the focus to the value-added service portfolio and customer experience. At the same time, new options are emerging to deliver optimized technologies for the IT service management framework within the internet sphere.  Orange Business Services, communications service provider, develops and understands together with Accenture consultants, both clients needs and customer experience strategies for deploying an improved management service portal. The process to enable this competitive strategy for OBS includes the research of new tends in technology, the comprehension of customers expectations and needs, and the introduction of the evolutions that competitors are implementing within the market.

Abstract: This work uses Colombian import data, gathered at the firm-level, to find out the patterns in the distribution of sales across suppliers within importers. The results are evaluated in light of the model of Herkenhoff, Krautheim, and Saure (2020) and extended to different samples to validate the persistency of the stylized fact: the value traded by a firm and its median supplier is independent of how well-connected a firm is. This value is very close to the one traded by the average single-supplier firm. The sales distribution by top source countries and industries in some cases show a different performance. Also, the distribution for firms purchasing from US exporters did not to suffer any change after the COL-USA Free Trade Agreement, under an active or exhaustive extensive margin. The new insights shed light on the potential role of the firm size, in terms of number of connections, and the margins of trade to evaluate features of upstream networks in different contexts. Resumen: Esta investigación usa datos agregados a nivel de firma sobre las importaciones colombianas, con el fin de hallar patrones en la distribución de ventas entre firmas importadoras y sus proveedores. Los resultados son evaluados a la luz del modelo de Herkenhoff, Krautheim, and Saure (2020) y son extendidos en diferentes muestras con el fin de validar la persistencia del siguiente hecho estilizado: el valor negociado por una firma y su proveedor mediano es independiente de su nivel de conectividad con otros proveedores. La distribución de ventas por países de origen de las importaciones y por industrias en algunos casos muestra un patrón distinto. También, la distribución de ventas para firmas que se suplen de exportadores estadounidenses no tuvo ningún cambio después del Tratado de Libre Comercio Colombia-Estados Unidos, bajo un margen extensivo activo o inactivo. Los nuevos hallazgos dan cuenta del rol potencial del tamaño de la firma, en términos de número de conexiones comerciales, y los márgenes de comercio para evaluar las características de las redes de proveedores en diferentes contextos.

Abstract: At the present time, climate change and antimicrobial resistance are considered as the most critical threats, affecting human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Although these terms may initially appear different, they are interconnected and share similarities in their causes (human interventions and natural cycles), health, and societal consequences. Climate change is associated through direct and indirect pathways with an increase in infectious diseases. Nonetheless, the association between global warming and antimicrobial resistance requires a comprehensive summary of evidence exploring it. Methods: A literature review was conducted to identify and describe the association between climate change and the rapid emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance. The search was conducted in the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, Epistemonikos, and Google Scholar. The search period was restricted to articles published from January 2010 to June 2021. Additionally, a snowballing approach was conducted to identify any additional papers. Data extraction included study location, weather factors, environmental elements, antibiotics, and bacteria analysed, as well as the results. Results: 29 articles were included (ten literature or systematic reviews, eight experimental, six ecological, four observational, and one quasi-experimental). In terms of location, all the studies were conducted in countries between 35° and 75° north latitude. The results suggested some evidence of the effects of climate change (alterations in temperature, precipitation, and humidity) on the emergence and rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance in different environments (water, soil, cryosphere, and air). Temperature was described as a main effect of climate change that had effects on antibiotic resistance (increasing bacteria growth, altering metabolism, inducing crossprotection, and facilitating horizontal gene transfer between bacteria). Additionally, results also described the association between altered rain patterns and humidity and antimicrobial resistance, through the runoff of antibiotic molecules or the transport of antibiotic resistance mechanisms to other areas. Conclusions: This literature review has underscored the association between climate change and antimicrobial resistance. According to the results shown in the selected studies, the alterations in weather factors resulting from climate change have varying effects on the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance. However, further research is imperative to decipher the complex interactions between other environmental processes, pollutants, patterns of antibiotic consumption, wastewater, animal migration, and regions below the latitudes covered in this literature review.

El informe nace en parte de la indignación ante los inexcusables actos a los que estas personas se han visto sometidas y el daño causado a sus vidas. Demuestra por qué es imprescindible que las personas que han sufrido agresiones sexuales dispongan de una atención inmediata y realmente accesible.

This dissertation is a research studies on the dynamics of Crafts its consumerism and contemporary significance within the developed and the developing countries leading to a better understanding of the critical factors and necessary conditions to build up effective strategies to enable craftspeople and organisations to adapt better to the requirements of contemporary society. This study contains relevant reference material to understand the meaning of crafts in different cultural contexts. It also analyses collaborative efforts and promotional strategies which local and international organisations are undertaking in response to new market opportunities for crafts. The outcome is to provide guidance and recommendations on possible new directions for successful exports to organisations and craftspeople concerned with these issues. Following the abstract and introduction, information on “crafts” as an economic issue in the UK and information about International organisations working for the development of crafts in the world such as UNESCO, the World Crafts Council and Aid to Artisans is given in Section I. Section II starts addressing the question that originated from the findings that arise from the review of the topic in section I followed by an explanation of the method of investigation used to carry out the research. This section will provide the reader with information of the Crafts Council and Artesanías de Colombia, the British and Colombian organisations selected as case studies. This section investigates what are the collaborative efforts and the strategies these organisations have undertaken to help craftspeople export their products. Literature review on the relationship design management and marketing and Internet-based research on craft’s promotion are also analysed. Section III will go on to analyse the critical factors that have an impact on the success of British and Colombian crafts within international markets. I will be attempting to respond the key question by discussing the following issues: Understanding the role of crafts in a consumer society, International organisations Vs national organisations, International markets – obstacles for successful exports, The market link – what it is necessary?, Internet – an economically viable promotional medium. Finally, this dissertation concludes with lessons drawn from current practices, which instruct on possible directions for a Colombian craft export model.

In 2007, Mexico City legalized abortion in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. By doing so, it became the first and only state in Mexico where abortion on demand is legal. In this paper, I use this natural experiment to estimate the effects of abortion legalization on child and maternal health. I perform Difference-In-Differences estimates using information from all births and deaths occurred between 2002 and 2012. My findings suggest that the change in the abortion legislation in Mexico City reduced the Infant Mortality Rate and the Under 5 Mortality Rate by approximately 2.3 and 2.4 deaths per 1,000 live births, respectively. Moreover, for the Maternal Mortality Rate I find that the estimations range from -5.49 to -6 deaths per 100,000 live births. These results are validated by the use of a more accurate control group generated by the Synthetic Control Method. To the best of my knowledge, this if the first paper that attempts to examine the effects of abortion legalization in Mexico City on child health. En el 2007, Ciudad de México legalizó el aborto en las 12 primeras semanas de gestación. Al hacerlo, se convirtió en el primero y único estado del país en donde el aborto voluntario es legal. En este artículo utilizo este experimento natural para estimar los efectos de la legalización del aborto en la salud materno infantil. Realizo estimaciones de Diferencias en Diferencias utilizando información de todos los nacimientos y muertes ocurridos entre 2002 y 2012. Mis hallazgos sugieren que el cambio en la legislación relativa el aborto en la Ciudad de México redujo la tasa de mortalidad Infantil y la tasa de mortalidad en menores de 5 años en aproximadamente 2.3 y 2.4 muertes por cada 1.000 nacidos vivos, respectivamente. Además, para la tasa de mortalidad materna, encuentro que las estimaciones oscilan entre -5,49 y -6 muertes por 100.000 nacidos vivos. Estos resultados se validan mediante el uso de un grupo de control más preciso, utilizando la metodología de control sintético. Según mi conocimiento, este es el primer artículo que intenta examinar los efectos de la legalización del aborto en la Ciudad de México sobre la salud infantil.

Abstract: In a globalized world, the rapid development in digital technologies and finance has enabled the successful growth of Airbnb around the world. The spectacular growth in main cities has caused the social fabric of the city was negatively impacted. The diminishing local welfare, shortage in the housing market, and to the need for identifying ways to regulate the operations are the major concerns of local government who perceive Airbnb as a disruptor of the main city sub-systems —social, urban infrastructure, and governance. This dissertation intends to find relationships between the coevolution of the gentrification process and Airbnb by using a quantitative approach. This discussion is essential to understand additional dimensions of the debate of commodification of housing and which socio-economic and demographic mechanisms enable the adoption of Airbnb. The statistical analysis shows that gentrification and Airbnb have unevenly grown along the last 10 years in Amsterdam. The relationships between Airbnb and household-housing conditions led to establishing that a strong association has evolved in surrounding neighbourhoods of the central district. The adoption follows patterns in the socio-economic and housing conditions of neighbourhoods. The policy advice suggests that measures taken by the Municipality of Amsterdam to counter the spread of Airbnb can exacerbate and reinforce the relationship between gentrification and Airbnb is those areas.

Abstract: This paper examines the public and private nature of personal weblogs written by British and Spanish teenagers. In particular, it reports on the first stage of a long-term research project about the effects of the anti-sexist language policies and the process of feminisation of the language in the media. Given that the linguistic expression of online female gender identity includes a wide range of variables, I shall concentrate on a selection of pragmatic meanings of informative and directive utterances in British and Spanish female teenagers’ narrations of their love-life. In doing so, I shall highlight the fight between the persistence of traditional patriarchal feminine behaviours and the growing appearance of culturallybased androgynous behaviour patterns in both British and Spanish societies.

El dolor se presenta al descubrir en los informes de expertas la persistencia de las categorías de presión y exclusión a las mujeres, las etnias distintas a la blanca, a lo largo del período patriarcal y el consecuente ensalzamiento de la guerra como supuesto motor de la historia. El dolor se agudizaron los testimonios de mujeres desplazadas y sobrevivientes en zonas de conflicto armado, las múltiples manifestaciones de la violencia y sus secuelas en la vida. Las atrocidades contra las mujeres durante las guerras que al parecer se daban en otras épocas y latitudes, se reproducen en Colombia hoy. Y lo que es más preocupante aún, bajo la increíble creencia de que las obscenidades de las violaciones responden a las necesidades de los hombres. En Colombia y en el mundo, todavía persiste la práctica de utilizar a las mujeres como objetos satisfactores de los deseos e intereses masculinos y tales prácticas se silencian por el temor a las venganzas y, a quedar en la impunidades. El primer capítulo de este documento hace un recorrido por el trabajo intelectual de las feministas académicas en el país, quienes se han preocupado por visualizar a las mujeres, sus quehaceres y sus costumbres. La apertura reciente, desde hace diez años, de Centros de Estudios sobre Mujer y Género en las universidades Nacional, Antioquia, Valle y Atlántico ha iniciado el rescate de las mujeres acerca de un pasado silenciado en los textos históricos tradicionales. Las académicas han puesto de presente que el devenir de la sociedad está compuesto tanto por hombres como por mujeres. Y por supuesto, se han dedicado a formular nuevas preguntas frente al quehacer historiográfico. El segundo aparte versa sobre la Historia de los Derechos de las Mujeres. Estos son fundamentalmente, la expresión de conciencias autónomas, la manifestación de intereses y deseos en torno a la existencia y la convivencia, por parte de infinitos grupos de mujeres. La historia de los derechos de las mujeres es un proceso continuo de introducción en la vida interior, de elaboración cultural, cada vez más amplio y profundo; se empieza a percibir con mayor claridad, desde mediados del siglo XVIII, en múltiples países del mundo occidental. El tercer capítulo hace referencia a la Teoría Social sobre los Derechos de las Mujeres. A partir de los años 50 del siglo pasado se fortalece la presencia de las mujeres en la educación y la política, y por ende, la formulación de programas para la promoción de los derechos de las mujeres y la demanda de garantías al Estado de Bienestar. Es notoria la presencia de múltiples organizaciones en el seno del movimiento feminista y social de mujeres en la búsqueda por mejores condiciones de vida. La inspiración para la demanda de los Derechos Económicos, Sociales, Culturales y Políticos la podemos encontrar, por un lado, en la socialdemocracia y, por otro, en el feminismo de la igualdad. Los avances en los estudios de las condiciones de las mujeres y los más recientes de género, si bien, aportan conceptos y descripciones para visualizar la presencia de las mujeres y también sobre los cambios culturales insinuados en las relaciones entre hombres y mujeres, no alcanzan a profundizar acerca de las implicaciones sociales y futuras del conjunto de los derechos reconocidos legalmente y divulgados hoy en día. Por lo anterior, es preciso que el diplomado sobre Democracia y Derechos de las Mujeres para construir la paz pueda disfrutar de la cátedra compartida entre las activistas de los derechos de las mujeres y las estudiosas del género, de manera que se convierta en un escenario para el diálogo fecundo. Esperamos que la lectura del presente texto contribuya a comprender las diferencias, a aclarar ideas entre los diferentes enfoques y propicie el debate reflexivo frente a las contradicciones y nudos persistentes en el movimiento social de mujeres.
