Casati: The Selfish Muse
This is the tale of Luisa Casati Amman, otherwise known as 'The Marchesa', an Italian heiress whose life ambition was to transform herself into a living, breathing work of art. She was obsessed with beauty and extravagance, and devoted her entire family fortune to purchasing the means to astonish her contemporaries with her daredevil style. But her originality extended to more than just the adornment of her own person; she embellished her whole life with a succession of fantastical parties, large houses, ostentatious pets and outrageous public appearances. But, as ever, such exorbitance can hardly last forever... This intriguing biography traces the rise and fall of one of the 20th century's most fascinating personalities."Vanna Vinci, Casati: The Selfish Muse's author and illustrator, does not veer away from negative takes on the Marchesa, but embraces them as a celebration of a remarkable woman who defied the societal norms of her day and devoted her very soul to the pursuit of art." Land of the Damned #1
A supernatural creature, on the brink of death owing to a violent confrontation in a remote corner of the uncivilized world, uses the last of its inhuman endurance to flee to the small town of Hoon, Nebraska, and gives itself over to the care of a tight circle of high school students who are deeply involved in the gothic subculture of the '90s. Needing to feed on their blood in order to heal its grievous wounds, the creature offers to grant the students powerful preternatural abilities in exchange. In turn, the students, having been bullied mercilessly in school by some of the more popular cliques, readily accept the deal--though the ultimate cost is more than any of the close friends bargained for. While the kids operate below the surface, exploring their newfound abilities--with often-violent side effects and hungers--bodies of the town's populace begin to stack up. Can the police chief, his deputy, and a dedicated reporter crack the case before a devastating plague wipes Hoon from the map?

No One Else
2022 LA Times Book Prize WINNER, Graphic Novel/Comics2022 Lynd Ward Graphic Novel Prize Honor BookIn this graphic novel, Charlene is a divorced mom, has a young son named Brandon, and works full-time as a nurse while also caring for her infirm father. She is barely holding their lives together when tragedy strikes and leaves Charlene and Brandon on their own. Charlene, who has put everyone but herself first for years, sees it as an opportunity for a new start of sorts. That is, at least, until her easy-come, easy-go brother, Robbie -- a well-intentioned but unserious semi-professional musician -- rolls back into town after a long absence. Brandon, a good kid who aches for life to return to normal, focuses his grief on his cat, Batman, who hasn't been seen for a few days since he ran into the sugar cane fields that lie on the edge of their housing tract. No One Else is a graphic novel of great tender truth, as Charlene, Brandon, and Robbie learn to navigate life day to day with their plans, fears, and desires. Gorgeously drawn and set in the author's hometown on the Hawaiian island of Maui, it is the long-awaited follow up to Johnson's acclaimed debut graphic novel, Night Fisher, and a mature work of literary fiction that is certain to be one of the most talked-about books of the year.

On The Way
Emma, a newly single cartoonist in her thirties, impulsively finds herself standing in Roncesvalles with her gaze fixed on Santiago de Compostela. Following the pilgrimage route known as The Way of St. James, she realizes the path she is traveling is bringing her closer to and somehow farther away from everyone around her, that the weight of her backpack is more than the clothes and pans inside, and that what she believed to be a simple walk to get some miles behind her (and her past) is a chance to learn not only about the people she meets along the way, but also herself. Creators Paco Hernandez & Jose Angel Ares bring you a story of friendship, family and learning. An emotional journey from which no one will return being the same.
