The Cimmerian: Red Nails #1
In Red Nails, Conan finds himself in the Darfar region, whose territory is almost entirely covered by a huge forest. Here he pledges himself a mercenary, promising his sword to the highest bidder, fighting alongside fellow mercenary and fierce female warrior Valeria. After a clash against a terrible dragon, the two go to a strange fortified city, apparently deserted...but the duo will quickly discover that a civilization lives hidden inside, and that the citadel hides a heavy secret. Red Nails is one of Conan's most beloved and sophisticated stories. Howard affirms his style, persisting in his mistrust of modern civilizations, consumed by passivity, laxity and cruelty. Regis Hautiere, Olivier Vatine and Didier Cassegrain give substance to this tale in splendid colors.

Ozy and Millie
Meet Ozy and Millie, two middle-grade students in Seattle who also happen to be foxes. This debut comic from Phoebe and Her Unicorn creator Dana Simpson centers around these two best friends as they take on the everyday challenges all middle-graders face--bullies, tests, and the dread of going back to school after a surprise snow day. Millie is a mischievous and inquisitive 10-year-old with a talent for evading homework, a habit of questioning authority, and a knack for inventing bizarre jump rope rhymes. Ozy is her calm, thoughtful counterpart, whose adoptive father, a red dragon named Llewellyn, is full of odd stories and ancient wisdom. Also featured are Felicia, a sheep at the head of the cool clique, and Avery, a hapless raccoon who desperately wants to be popular. Together they offer charming and fun stories while also allowing Simpson's sweetly philosophical humor to shine through. Evocative, funny, and gently philosophical, Ozy and MIllie will delight young readers with tales of friendship and school-age fun, while transporting older fans back to the honesty, openness and wonder of childhood.

Francis
Who could have imagined that at a time of deep global uncertainty and institutional failure, a soft-spoken figure dressed in white would step onto the world stage with a message of hope? The election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Pope Francis marks an epic moment in troubled times for a world struggling to imagine its future. And what better way to celebrate this moment than with a light touch -- a cartoon strip called simply "Francis," about an unlikely pope who says and does surprising things almost daily to offer hope based on compassion and humor. In this e-book original, Kansas City cartoonist Pat Marrin joins humor to hope in Francis, the adventures of a reluctant pope who is renewing his church by turning it upside down in order to set free its original spirit and purpose.

Prickly City: Big Book of Kevin: The Lost Bunny of the Apocalypse
A small town in the American Southwest... everything in the desert is designed to prick you, wound you or eat you. What better metaphor for 21st century Earth? Prickly City is a comic strip about the friendship between Winslow, a coyote pup, and Carmen, a straight and narrow kind of kid. Prickly City offers a conservative perspective on political and social events within an ongoing storyline. As Carmen might say, "We may not be correct but we will always be right." Their high jinks provide endless laughs as Winslow gets into trouble and Carmen follows. Join Carmen and Winslow for their adventures in the desert! In the e-book original The Big Book of Kevin: The Lost Bunny of the Apocalypse, Kevin, an ambitious politician, serves as the epitome of the craziness that has become our politics.

Get Fuzzy Vol #20 The Fuzzy Bunch
House cats are known to be aloof, but "cat-titude" reaches new heights in Get Fuzzy, the bitingly hilarious comic strip from cartoonist Darby Conley. Get Fuzzy is a wry portrait of single life, with pets. At the center of this warm and fuzzy romp is Rob Wilco, a single, mild-mannered ad executive and guardian of anthropomorphic scamps Bucky and Satchel. Bucky is a temperamental cat who clearly wears the pants in this eccentric household. Satchel is a gentle pooch who tries to remain neutral, but frequently ends up on the receiving end of Bucky's mischief. Together, this unlikely trio endures all the trials and tribulations of a typical family...more or less. The National Cartoonists Society honored Get Fuzzy with a Reuben division award, naming it the Best Newspaper Comic Strip of 2002.

Close to Home: Women Are from Venus, Men Are Idiots
Inside Women Are from Venus, Men Are Idiots, Close to Home cartoonist John McPherson illustrates what happens when planets--and planetary beings--just don't seem to align. From memorable Thanksgiving TV-carving dinners to disjointed marriage counseling sessions, McPherson culls more than 75 relationship-specific, full-color panels inside this interplanetary ode to coupledom. McPherson's mastery in Close to Home is elevating the mundane to the magnificent. The caustic interactions between balding, bespeckled middle-aged men and auburn-haired, beehive-tressed women become achingly funny when sketched by his pen. Appearing in more than 700 newspapers internationally, McPherson's Close to Home is one of the most popular card lines from Recycled Paper Greetings.

Argyle Sweater: A Cartoon Collection
The Argyle Sweater is a comic for grown-ups but it's inspired by a childlike imagination and charm. Follow bears, bees, chickens, wolves, dogs, cats, zebras, cops, game shows, phones, cavemen, and even nursery rhyme icons and an evil scientist, into the mischief and perfect-fitting dialogue of The Argyle Sweater world. Hilburn jokes he thought about naming the strip For Better or For Worse but noted "that that one was already taken."
