Esta edición surge de un libro de Umberto Pérez que la Secretaría de Cultura publicó en 2007 bajo el título Bogotá, epicentro del rock entre 1957 y 1975. La obra original se amplió con artículos de Luis Daniel Vega, un par de textos de Ricardo Durán y Jaime Andrés Monsalve -dos invitados de lujo-, y un nuevo título tan sólido como granizo: Una idea descabellada. Instantáneas del rock en Bogotá (1957-1975). Los investigadores, escritores y sobre todo melómanos que en este compendio no solo interpretan el papel de relatores sino a la vez el de alquimistas y reinventores, cuentan cómo el rock capitalino, más que un género con cuadrículas fijas, es una creación colectiva, dispar y con la mira puesta en muchos lados. Como la ciudad misma. Cuentan de bandas de rock que se desmantelaron y luego dieron paso a otras nuevas con una rapidez extrema. El rock bogotano convirtió el esmog y la polución en una dorada y preciosa serie de obras musicales.
